Acupuncture for Pregnancy, Birth and Motherhood.

I recently met with the lovely Laura Campbell from Nautilus Acupuncture to discuss all the many benefits that Acupuncture can offer to women during Pregnancy, Birth and into Motherhood.  Here is what Laura had to say:

“Acupuncture can be a wonderful support for all stages of pregnancy. From morning sickness and fatigue to poor circulation, insomnia, reflux, low back or hip pain, headaches and more.
Some of these symptoms are considered ‘just a part of pregnancy’ that you are expected to put up with or suffer through. But they don’t have to be. Chinese Medicine sees all physical symptoms as an imbalance that can be corrected. Acupuncture is a natural and gentle way to help you enjoy all of the trimesters and to help you prepare for the birth of your choosing.
Labour preparation treatments are excellent for building your energy reserves and calming your nervous system. Stress, worry, fear and fatigue can inhibit the naturally occurring hormonal influx of the early stages of labour. Acupuncture and other therapies/activities (like yoga!) can help this process occur with greater ease. Acupuncture is also beneficial in the preparation for and recovery from planned Caesarean births.
The post-partum period is another area that Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can provide a nurturing and nourishing treatment for a range of common concerns. Breast-feeding challenges, stress and anxiety, emotional overwhelm, physical exhaustion. A little bit of me time goes a long way when it incorporates a gentle but powerful Acupuncture treatment.”

A little bit about Laura;

Laura is mum to a highly enthusiastic and vibrant 5 year old girl. She spent several years working as the primary Acupuncturist along-side natural therapists at a Wellness Centre in Brisbane with a strong focus on Women’s Health. She is a passionate advocate for an improvement in the education and birth options for pregnant women. She believes that understanding the changes in your body in a way that makes sense to you can make all the difference in your pregnancy journey.
Treating mum’s and mum’s to be is one of Laura’s favourite things to do because she understands how hard it can be to adjust to a very different life, and that it’s easier when you have a little extra energy, a clear mind and a calm heart.

If you’d like to know more about how Acupuncture may be able to help you, please reach out to Laura, she would love to have a chat and discuss it further.
